The “Order of the Arrow” is a special action organization of Scouts made up of boys elected by their Troop peers. For more information see the Boy Scout Handbook and the Quapaw Area web cite.
The “Arrowman Service Award” is presented here to highlight the high standards of this “Order,” and to give a brief summary of their objective.
The Order’s vision of the future is a strategy of increased service by their members to the Boy Scouts of America. To reward arrowmen who go beyond their immediate responsibilities by helping and guiding others to new heights, the “Order” has created the Arrowman Service Award. The award focuses on three areas of service: personal, chapter and lodge, and community.
The timeline of the award will begin on January 1, 2001, and will end on December 31,2003. The award may be earned in the year 2001, 2002, and 2003. All first time recipients may purchase the original award (the white ribbon with the gold compass). Arrowmen who earn the award more than once during the outlined three year period may purchase the silver attachment for having completed this award a second time (2002 only) and a bronze attachment for having completed this award a third time (2003 only). the attachment will be worn on the award’s white ribbon.
The award design is a compass rose in gold super-imposed over the arrowhead of red. The compass rose symbolizes the path ahead of one’s travels, and the ”Order’s” strategic plan for the future. A white ribbon is added, to represent the “Order’s” new direction.
The Quapaw “Order of the Arrow” lodge is proud of its program and the service projects, performed by 500 plus members.
