Scouting is a game with a purpose! Every game is fun! Every game has a lesson to be learned. If your ideals reflect those as found on these pages, "Scouting" is for your boy!
“The first acquisition a new Scout is likely to make is his personal copy of the “Boy Scout Handbook.” The pages fast become dog-eared. The handbook is a book of dreams, dreams of ‘Adventure...hiking along trails...canoeing on misty lakes...a patrol bike hike...a plunge in a cool mountain lake.’ It talks about being prepared to help others, and the values of Scouting. It tells a new Scout that he will have a voice in how his troop operates, and that he will have the opportunity to lead.”
This is the promise of Scouting.
Only a successful troop can deliver the promise!
What, you may ask, is a successful troop? It is a troop where the promise is fulfilled and that has the full support and participation of the sponsor, the parent and designated Scout leaders. It is support you can give to your sons and grand sons! Others have! So can you! Troop 55 was chartered in 1974, and has helped 48 boys achieve the rank of “Eagle!” We challenge you to call your Scoutmaster today!
Welcome!!
The Scoutmaster and the Troop Committee welcome your inquiries and your visit to any Troop Meeting(s). Once more, we look forward to welcoming your son(s) and grandson(s) intoTroop 55. You can direct your inquiries to the Scoutmaster or any member of the committee. Go to the Adult Leader Page to find telephone numbers and e-mail addresses for the Scoutmaster and other committee members. Meetings are held as shown in the Events Calendar Pages in the Troop Meeting Room. Enter through door 4 at the rear of the church, and follow the corridor all the way to the back.
The site is designed for low maintenance. The intent of the site is to release the Scoutmaster, the Scouts, and the Troop committee from the task of constantly reinventing the wheel, and further to move the Troop away from paper as much as possible. Even where paper is necessary, i.e., permission slips, conduct agreements, motor vehicle safety checklists, Troopmaster forms and troop positive control checklist, all of these can be printed from the web site when needed.
